RESEARCH INTEREST
Interests
My "Integrative Muscle Biology Laboratory" employs molecular biology techniques with in vivo and in vitro models examining muscle plasticity. Currently my laboratory is examining signaling induced by disease or altered loading that can regulate differential gene expression in skeletal muscle. Specifically, my laboratory is interested in hormonal and nutritional interactions with these regulatory processes. Our research will impact counter measures for patient's with chronic wasting diseases, age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass, as well as, the maintenance of muscle mass during space missions, and the general practice of resistance training.
Research
- The effect of physical activity on colorectal cancer progression.
- Hormone receptor and inflammation regulation of muscle plasticity.
- Mechanisms of disuse and disease induced muscle mass loss.
