RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Price's research interests include the role of growth factors in heart development and the effects of mechanical load on heart development and disease processes. His primary interests involve the roles of growth factors and mechanical forces on the development and function of myofibrils in cardiac myocytes. His recent publications have demonstrated the importance of these factors in the normal development of the contractile apparatus of the heart.
Dr. Price's laboratory uses a variety of research techniques including RT-PCR, biochemical analysis of proteins, and the immuno-localization of proteins by confocal scanning laser and electron microscopy to determine myofibril form and function. Research models include cell and whole embryo culture as well as in vivo analyses utilizing embryonic, fetal, neonatal and adult animals.
