Unmasking Colon Cancer - A Masquerade Ball
BALL PROGRAM GALLERY GRANT APPLICATION

Thank You!

On behalf of the Gibbs Regional Cancer Center of Spartanburg, the Center for Colon Cancer Research at the University of South Carolina, and the Betty Ann Moore Colon Cancer Awareness Fund, we thank you for your support of the first annual “Unmasking Masquerade Ball" that took place this past February. We are delighted with the success of this year's event and are happy to announce that the evening raised over $30,000 for education, awareness, screening, and research here in South Carolina !

The evening jump-started March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month activities. Across the state, survivors, advocates, and community programs have focused their efforts on decreasing colorectal cancer incidence and mortality. Through public and professional education and awareness, screening, and research, we are changing the impact of this disease in South Carolina today. People are learning that colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable, and BEATABLE!

We continue to receive tremendous support and we are very appreciative to everyone involved.

About the Event
This is the first annual event to raise funds for Colorectal Cancer in South Carolina. Our goal is to raise funds to unmask colon cancer and raise awareness about this disease. Contributions will go directly to research, education & screening programs in South Carolina. Jo-Ellen De Luca, a colon cancer survivor and Anne Brady Moore, who lost her mother to colon cancer have partnered with the Center for Colon Cancer Research to raise funds that will go directly to education, screening and research programs in our state. Over 2300 South Carolinians are diagnosed with colon cancer each year and over 900 die. People need to know that screening saves lives and that colon cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable.
Why a Masquerade Ball?
Colon cancer can masquerade as good health. Many times systems are non-existent until the late stages of this disease. Education and awareness about this disease is essential. This event will not only educate but it will entertain. The Courvoisie Banquet Hall at the Citadel will be the beautiful back drop for a fun filled night of delicious food, music and cocktails. The evening will also include the unveiling of celebrity guests and a live auction. We are thrilled by the support from across the state and hope you will join us!
