THANK YOU !!!

On behalf of the Center for Colon Cancer Research at USC, the Betty Ann Moore Foundation, the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, and the Gibbs Cancer Center, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support of the 2008 Unmasking Colon Cancer benefit held last month in Columbia, South Carolina.

It was a pleasure to see the nearly three hundred people who gathered to lend their enthusiasm and commitment to reducing the burden of this highly preventable disease. The highlight of the evening was our very own “Dancing with the Stars” competition featuring Dr. James Bearden, Dr. Salvatore Moscatello, and Columbia’s ABC news anchor Ms. Shanai Harris. Dr. Bearden, who danced with his partner Lorie Axelrod to “Doctor, Doctor”, delighted the crowd and the judges, and was the first place winner. 

After tallying the donations and pledges of friends, families, and supporters, we determined that the evening raised over $65,000, all of which will be applied towards support of awareness, education, and screening programs in the Upstate, the Midlands, and the Low Country. It has truly been inspiring to witness South Carolinians step up to combat colorectal cancer. The contributions of talent, time, and money by people like you are being recognized both locally and nationally, and South Carolina is rapidly becoming known as a state on the move.

Efforts are already underway to plan the March 2009 Unmasking Colon Cancer Ball, which will take place in Spartanburg and will be even bigger and better than ever! Keep an eye out for "save the date" announcements.  In the meantime, we send our best regards, and offer our deepest thanks and appreciation for your continued support of our efforts against colorectal cancer.
