On March 14 and 15, CCCR Director Dr. Frank Berger attended the "Call-on-Congress" up in Washington DC, with gastroenterologist Dr. March Seabrook and WIS-TV anchor Dawndy Mercer Plank.  This event was sponsored by Fight Colorectal Cancer, a national advocacy organization dedicated to reducing the toll of colorectal cancer across the United States.  The main focus of the "Call-on-Congress" was on meeting Congressional legislators to get them behind colorectal cancer research and prevention.  This involved educating them about the disease, about basic research on it, and about preventive screening to reduce its occurrence.  It was a busy couple of days!  Stimulating much of the discussion was the National Cancer Institute's recent report that the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing in young adults.  Strategies to address this issue are needed.
